But dureth for a while ( ἀλλὰ πρόσκαιρός ἐστιν). Luke's οἱπρὸς καιρὸν πιστεύουσιν, is an evidently later form. (For the thought, cf. John 5:35.) By and by; straightway (Revised Version, εὐθύς).
