The Blank Check

God isn't looking for a negotiation; He's looking for a surrender. Stop giving God a contract and start giving Him a blank check.

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship." () Imagine a billionaire walks up to you.

He hands you a check signed by him. The resources backing it are unlimited. But the "Amount" line is empty. He says, "You can fill in the amount. But once you cash this check, you belong to me. You go where I say.

You do what I say. You own nothing." Most Christians try to negotiate with God. We treat Him like a business partner. We say, "Lord, I will give you my Sunday mornings, 10% of my income, and I will stop swearing.

But don't touch my career choice. Don't touch who I date. Don't ask me to move to a difficult city." That is a contract, not a surrender. A true disciple does not negotiate terms. A true disciple hands God a Blank Check .

You sign your name at the bottom of your life, and you let God fill in the details. He might fill in: "Remain single for My glory." He might fill in: "Give away your savings." He might fill in: "Go to the mission field."

Because you have already signed, you don't get to say "No" when the bill comes due. You have surrendered the right to run your own life. This is the scary part of discipleship. It is the move from "Jesus as Consultant" (asking Him for advice) to "Jesus as King" (obeying His commands).

Digging Deeper

Theologically, this is the concept of Consecration . In the Old Testament, when a bowl or a tool was "consecrated" to the Temple, it could never be used for common purposes again. You couldn't take the Temple gold bowl home to eat cereal.

It was "Holy" (set apart). You are that bowl. You have been bought with a price. The "Living Sacrifice" Paradox: calls us a "Living Sacrifice." The problem with a living sacrifice is that it keeps crawling off the altar.

Dead sacrifices stay put. Living ones naturally want to escape the heat. Discipleship is the daily, hourly decision to climb back onto the altar and say, "Not my will, but Yours be done." Reflect on this: Is there a "No Trespassing" sign anywhere in your life?

Is there one room in your heart (your finances, your secret habit, your anger) where you have told Jesus, "You can have the rest of the house, but you can't come in here" ? If He is not Lord of all , He is not Lord at all .

👣 Take a Step Action: The Scary Prayer. Find a quiet place today. Open your hands palms up. Pray this specific prayer: "Lord, I give you a blank check for the next year of my life. I surrender my right to be comfortable.

I surrender my right to be successful. Whatever You write on the check, the answer is Yes." Write down the date you prayed this.
