The Seed and the Bread

Don't eat your seed. God gives you some money for your present (Bread) and some for your future harvest (Seed). Wisdom is knowing the difference.

"Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed..." () Imagine a farmer who receives a delivery of grain sacks. He knows that some of the grain is Bread (to be eaten for lunch).

He knows that some of the grain is Seed (to be planted for next year's harvest). If he eats his Seed, he will starve next year. If he plants his Bread, he will starve today. Wisdom is knowing the difference.

God gives you money in two categories: Bread: For your needs (Rent, food, clothes, enjoyment). Seed: For others (Giving, kingdom projects, helping the poor). The problem is that most Christians eat their Seed.

God sends you a bonus check. That was meant to be Seed for a neighbor in need. But you say, "Wow, God wants me to have a bigger TV!" and you eat it. Then you wonder why you have no harvest. You have consumed your future.

Digging Deeper

God promises to increase your Seed , not your luxury. Look closely at the verse: "He will supply and increase your store of seed." God does not promise to make you rich so you can live in a mansion. He promises that if you are a faithful Sower, He will give you more seed to sow.

He flows resources to the hands that are open. Prosperity in the Bible is not "Having a lot"; it is "Having enough to abound in every good work" (2 Cor 9:8). Reflect on this: When unexpected money comes to you, what is your first thought?

"What can I buy?" or "Who is this for?" Ask the Owner: "Lord, is this bread for me, or is this seed for someone else?" 👣 Take a Step Action: The Seed Check. Look at your budget. Have you accidentally eaten your seed?

(i.e., Do you spend everything you make?) Set up an automatic transfer for "Seed Money" into a separate account the moment you get paid. Give God the first fruits, not the leftovers.
