The First Domino

"And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith." (1 Corinthians 15:14) Imagine a long line of dominoes standing up. These dominoes represent everything you believe: Miracles are real.

The Bible is true. Heaven exists. My sins are forgiven. A skeptic can argue with you about Heaven or the Bible all day long. But all of those dominoes rest on the First Domino : The Resurrection of Jesus.

If Jesus stayed dead in the grave, that first domino never falls. The rest of the chain is meaningless. We are just a pathetic group of people singing songs to a dead man. But... if that First Domino did fall—if a man actually walked out of his grave in real history—then everything else must be true.

If He beat death, then His claims are true, His Bible is true, and Heaven is real. Christianity is not just a nice philosophy; it is a Historical Fact . It does not depend on whether you "feel" it is true today.

It depends on whether a tomb was actually empty on a Sunday morning in Jerusalem 2,000 years ago. Don't get distracted arguing with people about minor details. Point them to the Empty Tomb. That is the only domino that matters.

The Apostle Paul admits that if the resurrection is fake, "we are to be pitied more than all men." He stakes the entire religion on one historical event. The disciples didn't die for a nice story. People do not let themselves be tortured and executed for a lie they invented.

They died saying, "We saw Him alive." The Resurrection is the physical receipt that proves the debt of your sin was actually paid. Reflect on this: Is your faith based on your feelings or on history?

Feelings change every single day based on what you ate or how you slept. History is written in stone. When you doubt your faith, don't look inside your heart (it's confused). Look outside at the Tomb (it's empty).
