"And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?" (Romans 10:14-15) Imagine a man being lowered deep into a dark, dangerous gold mine. He is the Miner .
He goes into the darkness to do the heavy lifting and find the gold. But he absolutely cannot do it alone. At the top of the hole, there are people holding the rope that keeps him safe. They are the Rope Holders .
If the Miner quits, no gold is found. If the Rope Holders let go, the Miner falls and dies. They are one team. The Miner gets the exciting stories of finding the gold, but the Rope Holders are the ones who made it possible.
In God's Global Mission, there are only two jobs: The Goer (The Missionary/The Miner). The Sender (The Rope Holder). There is no third option called "The Spectator." If God has not called you to physically move to a foreign country or a dangerous neighborhood (Going), then He has commanded you to hold the rope for the people who do (Sending).
You hold the rope with your Money . You hold the rope with your Prayers .
Digging Deeper
Sending is just as spiritual as Going . In the Old Testament, when King Davidโs army fought a battle, he made a strict rule: "The share of the man who stayed with the supplies is to be the exact same as that of him who went down to the battle."
God rewards the logistics and support team just as much as the front-line soldiers. Reflect on this: Whose rope are you holding right now? Can you name one specific missionary or church planter that you actively support?
If not, it is time to grab a rope. Don't just sit and watch the mining operation. Be part of the crew. ๐ฃ Take a Step Action: Send a Supply Drop. If you know a missionary or a hardworking pastor, send them a random gift today (a coffee gift card, a book, or a quick donation).
Send a message with it: "Thank you for going down into the mine. I just wanted to remind you that I'm up here holding the rope."
